Now Seeking: Market Manager!
The St. Michaels Farmers Market seeks a dynamic market manager to manage vendor, volunteer, and customer relations as well as lead day-of market operations and serve as an ambassador for our non-profit market within the Talbot County community.. This is a year-round position, with a new pro-rated start date of July 1, 2025.
Market Manager Responsibilities:
● Oversee all day-of aspects of farmers market operations, including:
o Coordinating vendor attendance;
o Coordinating community pop-up attendance with respective board chair;
o Coordinating musician attendance;
o Supervising and directing day-of volunteers, who assist with Market set-up and break down;
o Interacting with Market customers.
● Attend all Saturday morning markets in season (April – November, plus one special holiday market in early December, roughly 7 a.m. to noon).
● Assist the Board of Directors in various duties, including a weekly report on market operation and vendor compliance, record-keeping, monthly in-person meeting, etc.
● Work with the Market’s President and vendors during the week to prepare for the upcoming Market.
● Utilize Marketspread software to administer Market operations.
Compensation and Schedule:
● Semi-flexible, part-time, salaried position.
● Anticipated commitment of 15-20 hours per week (variable throughout season).
● Attendance at all Saturday Markets in season and monthly board meetings.
● Current position to run through December 31, 2025, with option for extension into 2026 season.
● Dedicated laptop and cell phone provided.
Qualifications:
● Exemplary customer service, relationship-building, and communication skills.
● Detail-oriented with strong administrative, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
● Ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
● Experience leading/managing/directing individuals and/or teams a plus.
● Outgoing, personable, and enjoys interacting with others.
● Familiarity with, or willingness to become familiar with, software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, QuickBooks, Google Drive, and Marketspread.
● Willingness and desire to advocate for Market goals.
● Own transportation required.
● No farm experience necessary, but welcome!
● Ideally minimum two-year commitment preferred.
